How to Care For Your Board

This cutting board has been handcrafted specially for you.

It will have some “intentional” imperfections for a natural look.

The finishing product used for this board is made in the USA with ultra-pure and premium Food-Safe / FDA Food Contact-Safe ingredients. The American Vegetarian Association certifies these products as vegetarian.

Cleaning:

Please clean the cutting board every time you use it to prevent bacteria from growing and contaminating food the next time you use it.

You can effectively clean it by scrubbing it with a sponge and dish detergent under the hottest water you can stand.

DO NOT PLACE IN A DISHWASHER or soak in water. The board may warp or crack.

Please don't store the board flat on the surface; lay it on its edge to prevent warping.

Disinfecting:

You can disinfect your cutting board with a bleach solution. As per FDA guidelines, one tablespoon of bleach per gallon of water should flood the surface of an already clean cutting board.

Allow the solution to stand for several minutes before washing and drying.

Deodorize:

1.                Sprinkle coarse sea salt all over the board. Let the salt sit overnight to draw out any lingering bacteria.

2.               Cut a lemon in half and use each piece to work the salt around the board. Be sure to juice the lemon as you are scrubbing. Let the lemon juice/salt mixture sit on your board for 5-10 minutes before wiping it away with a damp cloth.

Refresh:

Depending on how often you use your board, you should also oil it to help maintain its surface and keep it from drying out.

You can do it weekly, monthly, or every few months.

A well-cared-for wooden board will last you for years.
